By Kevin Petrochko For the Mirror PORTAGE — After a shutout loss to Marion Center last week, the Portage Mustangs bounced back strong with a 47-8 win over the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays on Friday night at Portage Community Stadium. The win is the Mustang’s first of the season. After pulling out a thriller against Windber last week, the Vikings followed it up with another against Meyersdale Friday on Military Appreciation Night. The high school football game between Bishop Guilfoyle Academy and McCort-Carroll, scheduled to be played at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point near the 1st Summit Arena where presidential candidate Donald Trump will be holding a rally, has had its kickoff time pushed back to 8 p.m. Parts of Napolean Street, Market Street and Stoneycreek Street will be closed due to the rally, and the later kickoff was done to alleviate parking issues caused by the two venues sharing parking garages.
