The Central baseball team will be getting up early for a long road trip on Thursday. The District 6 champions will travel to Seneca Valley High School in Zelienople for a Class 3A quarterfinal game against District 10 champion Fairview, with the first pitch scheduled for noon. The Scarlet Dragons are facing a trip of about 2 hours and 20 minutes while Fairview will be traveling about 1 hour and 20 minutes despite Central being considered the “home” team as the one on the top of the bracket. Altoona’s baseball team was honored for its standout season by the Mid-Penn Conference on Tuesday. Head coach Tom Smith was named the co-Mid-Penn Commonwealth Coach of the Year along with Cedar Cliff’s Justin Secrest.
