Altoona scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take control of its game against Mifflin County at Mansion Park Tuesday in a 5-2 triumph in high school baseball action.
Carter McConnell was the winning pitcher and struck out eight. Eric McAllister, who threw two shutout innings to close out the game, had two hits and drove in a run for the Mountain Lions, who evened their record at 1-1.

Tigers break out
HOLLIDAYSBURG — Hollidaysburg exploded for all five of its runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to come away with a 5-0 win over Johnstown.
Spencer Davis struck out nine in five innings of scoreless work, and Liam Jancula finished off the shutout with two scoreless innings and five strikeouts.
Braden Hatch added a two-run double for the Golden Tigers.
