WILLOW HILL — The Northern Bedford girls basketball team jumped out to a 22-3 first-quarter lead Thursday night en route to a 70-16 win over Fannett-Metal in high school play.

NBC (3-1), which led 44-8 at halftime, got 22 points from freshman Ava Verbit to go with 12 points from Amberly Detterline.

Tigers fall on road

CLEARFIELD — The Hollidaysburg boys basketball dropped to 1-1, falling at Clearfield, 71-59, in high school action.

The Golden Tigers, down 27-21 at halftime, were outscored, 27-20, in the final frame. Vince Albarano led Hollidaysburg with 15 points, followed by Tyson Delerme (13) and Kasen Metzger (10).

Clearfield got 23 points from Braison Patrick to go with 22 points from Evan Maines. Teammate Parker Collins hit four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points.
