Two Nittany Lions named to Big Ten football first team

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State senior running back Kaytron Allen and redshirt junior offensive lineman Olaivavega Ioane were named All-Big Ten first team honorees on Thursday.

Allen was voted first team by the coaches and media, while Ioane was a first-team selection by the media.

Allen and Ioane were two of seven All-Big Ten honorees. Between offense, defense and special teams, the Nittany Lions garnered 18 All-Big Ten selections.

Allen is the all-time career rushing leader at Penn Stae, passing Evan Royster. He is the 23rd Big Ten player to reach the 4,000 career rushing yards mark and 18th in Big Ten history. His Big Ten-leading 15 rushing touchdowns this season has him ninth in the school recordbooks.

Ioane played in 44 games for the Lions, starting 32 of them. According to Pro Football Focus, heallowed zero sacks and just two pressures in 310 pass blocking attempts this season.

Penn State players who made the honorable mention list were Nick Dawkins (OL), Khalil Dinkins (TE), Drew Shelton (OL) and Nicholas Singleton (RB).
