Northwestern suspends head coach Fitzgerald

Northwestern suspended coach Pat Fitzgerald for two weeks without pay Friday following an investigation into alleged hazing within the football program. The school said an investigation led by attorney Maggie Hickey of law firm ArentFox Schiff did not find “sufficient” evidence that the coaching staff knew about ongoing hazing. But investigators found there were “significant opportunities” to find out about it and report the conduct. Fitzgerald started serving his suspension on Friday. Lady Lions learn their Big Ten slate

From Mirror reports UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State women’s basketball team learned the home and road designations for its 18 Big Ten Conference games this season earlier this week. Dates, television network assignments and tipoff times for all Big Ten contests will be announced later this year. The Lady Lions will compete against five double-play opponents in conference competition with one game apiece scheduled on each team’s home campus. PSU’s Pickett and Lundy drafted in second round

With the second pick in the second round late Thursday night, Penn State point guard Jalen Pickett was selected by the Denver Nuggets, the recent NBA champions. Denver traded up earlier this week with the Indiana Pacers to acquire the 32nd pick. The general manager of the Nuggets is Calvin Booth, who played for Penn State in the late 1990s. Teammate Seth Lundy was taken by the Atlanta Hawks with the 46th pick. It is the first time ever in program history that the Nittany Lions have had two players picked in one draft.

USC, UCLA both get Michigan in first year

The Associated Press LOS ANGELES — Southern California and UCLA will both face Michigan during their first season as members of the Big Ten Conference in 2024. The conference announced the opponents for the 2024 and ‘25 football seasons Thursday afternoon. Next year will be the first season with 16 teams and no divisional format as the top two teams will qualify for the conference championship game.
