PSU Altoona gets two on women’s volleyball All-AMCC team

Penn State Altoona women’s volleyball had two student-athletes voted to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference team by league officials this week.
Lions junior outside hitter Lia Simanski was a first-team All-AMCC selection, and sophomore outside hitter Hannah Swank was voted to the third team of the all-conference list.
Simanski played in 27 matches for Penn State Altoona during her junior season and finished among the top players in the conference in several statistical categories. In the AMCC, she ranks eighth in points per set (3.4) and kills per set (3.1), ninth in total kills (267), 12th in total points (295.0), 16th in digs per set (3.01), 19th in hitting percentage (.155), 20th in total digs (259), 36th in service aces (22), and 39th in aces per set (0.26). Simanski was also awarded one AMCC Offensive Player of the Week honor during the season.
Swank enjoyed a productive season in her first year with the Penn State Altoona women’s volleyball team, during which she played in 21 matches. Among all players in the conference, she ranks 10th in points per set (2.9) and kills per set (2.56), 23rd in digs per set (2.6), 24th in total kills (141) and hitting percentage (.147), 26th in total points (157.0), and 40th in total digs (143).
Duo honored
UNIVERSITY PARK — The Atlantic Hockey Association named Penn State women’s ice hockey seniors Katelyn Roberts and Kendall Butze, for weekly conference awards on Tuesday afternoon.
Roberts was named the Forward of the Week for the first time in her career and Butze garnered her second career Defenseman of the Week award.
Roberts had a career high six points against Syracuse last weekend. She had a goal and two assists in Friday’s win. In Saturday’s victory, she totaled two goals and two assists.
Butze had her highest scoring weekend of the season and second highest of her career while closing in on two of the program’s defensive scoring records. She notched two assists in Friday’s game. On Saturday, she added three more assists for just the second three-assist game of her career and ninth multi-assist game.
