MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Blair County and Bishop Guilfoyle Academy were represented in the College Football Playoff semifinal Thursday night at the Orange Bowl.

BG has one player on both the Notre Dame and Penn State teams.

Andrew Yanoshak is a senior tight end with the Fighting Irish while Karson Kiesewetter is a redshirt freshman safety with the Nittany Lions.

“It’s pretty awesome,” Marauder coach Justin Wheeler said prior to the game. “Just a few years ago, these guys were playing for me at Bishop Guilfoyle, and now they are at Penn State and Notre Dame competing against each other for a chance to play for a college national championship. The whole BG football community will be watching their game. I’m extremely proud of both of them.”

Yanoshak has appeared in one game for the Irish in each of the last two seasons.

Kiesewetter, a former high school quarterback, appeared in the 2024 Blue-White game at safety.
