Mirror Classic on YouTube

The 18th annual Altoona Mirror Basketball Classic all-star games have been posted and can be viewed on the City of Altoona’s YouTube channel.

The Classic was played on April 3 at Penn State Altoona.

Blair County’s girls defeated Central PA 79-72, and the Central PA boys defeated Blair County 109-97 in the nightcap.

The announcers are Rich DeLeo and Bernie Jubeck, and Nate Taylor coordinated the production.

The Classic is played in memory of Big John and Tom Riley, and proceeds benefit the Big John Riley Scholarship Fund at Saint Francis University.

Mirror nominations

The Mirror is seeking nominations for its annual high school sports recognition program.

Area high schools are invited to submit nominations for the Ron Rickens Sportsmanship Awards, the Dean Rossi Leadership Award and the Erin (Johnson) Kelly Award, which recognizes the area high school athlete who has overcome the most adversity.

Seniors are eligible from the Mirror’s core coverage area, which includes the following schools: Altoona Area, Bellwood-Antis, Bishop Carroll Catholic, Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic, Blair County Christian, Cambria Heights, Central, Central Cambria, Claysburg-Kimmel, Glendale, Great Commission, Hollidaysburg Area, Juniata Valley, Northern Bedford, Penn Cambria, Portage Area, Tyrone Area and Williamsburg.
