Panthers hire new defensive line coach
PITTSBURGH — Tim Daoust was hired as the Pitt Panther football team’s new defensive line coach earlier this week.
He comes to Pittsburgh after spending the last three seasons at East Carolina, serving as the special teams coordinator and assistant coach for defensive ends and outside linebackers.
Owning more than 20 years of experience as an assistant coach focused on defense and special teams in college football, Daoust returns to the Atlantic Coast Conference after previously working at Syracuse (2011-15), where he led the defensive line before being promoted to assistant head coach and special teams coordinator.
In addition to also coaching at East Carolina as well,, Daoust was assistant head coach and oversaw the defensive line for two seasons (2019-20) at Sam Houston State, helping the Bearkats lead the FCS in rush defense (69.9 yards/game), opponent third-down conversion rate (27.9%) and tackles for loss (10.9/game) in 2019.
Star returning
Pitt women’s volleyball senior Cat Flood has announced that she will return for her fifth and final year of eligibility in the 2024 season. Flood has been influential in helping Pitt reach its third straight Final Four.
“Cat Flood has been a tremendous role model in this community, a wonderful teammate, and we are thrilled to have her back,” coach Dan Fisher said. “She has been a big part of three Final Fours and an Elite Eight, understands our culture and what it takes to win. We are thrilled that this upcoming season fits for Cat both academically and athletically. This is a big win for Pitt volleyball.”
Flood has made the biggest impact behind the service line in her career, notching 33 aces in the last two seasons.
