District 6 2A volleyball stars named
Five area high school volleyball players were named to the District 6 2A All-Star team on Monday.
Making the first team were Central Cambria’ Liz Bopp, Cass Bezek and Maggie Kudlawiec, along with Cambria Heights’ Emily Henry and Tyrone’s Makenna Bauer.
Joining them on the team were Bald Eagle Area’s Madison Rockey, Grace Hugar and Lexi Skripek and West Shamokin’s Abigail Osterling and Riley Prugh.
Named to the second team locally were Sakeria Haralson (Bellwood-Antis), Kiersten Szpala (Central Cambria), Mattie Cherry (Tyrone), and Amber Farabaugh (Cambria Heights).
Joining them are Lacee Barnhart (BEA), Taylor Kilmer (BEA), Katelyn Smithco (BEA), Jadyn Butler (Penns Valley), Madeline Cecere (Forest Hills) and Rylee Riggle (West Shamokin).
Honorable Mention status was received locally by Philipsburg-Osceola’s Kalista Butler and Kyleigh Kennedy, Tyrone’s Courtney Williams and Ebonee Rice and Cambria Heights’ Kendall Conrad and Nikki McCombie. Also making the list are Forest Hills’ Kenzie Colosimo, Baylee Snedden and Taylor Burda, along with Westmont Hilltop’s Abbie Bortz.
ICC fall stars selected
The Inter-County Conference released its fall All-Stars for 2019 for girls volleyball, boys and girls soccer, golf and cross country on Monday.
In cross country, the Northern Bedford boys placed three on the team: Ian Zimmerman, Ian Sherlock and Josh Strayer. Juniata Valley’s Jefferson Hill made the team, along with Bellwood-Antis’ Kenny Robison.
On the girls side, Northern Bedford’s Denae Hershberger and Harley Socie made the team, along with Juniata Valley’s Morgan Hess, Lexie Reed and Ella McGargle, Bellwood-Antis’ Ashley Yohn and Alexis Noel, and Williamsburg’s Kelsie Butler.
Rounding out the boys team were Southern Fulton’s James Buchheit and Kasey Fitz.
In golf, Everett’s Dylan Taylor, Brighton Williams and Isiah Shumaker made the team, along with Bellwood-Antis’ Noah Patton. Also making the team was Mount Union’s Trey Heffelfinger.
For girls soccer, Everett was represented by Kaitlyn Maxwell, Kristen ewing and Kylee Cessna, along with Moshannon Valley’s Summer Adams and Sarah McClelland, and Northern Bedford’s Evie Long.
Joining them also were Southern Fulton’s Lydia Hiller, Fannett-Metal’s Emma Wood, Brynn Hartman and Jenna Hoffman, and West Branch’s Madison Kephart, Sarah Betts and Trinity Prestash.
On the boys side, Everett’s Brady Foor, Luca Fierro and Ethan Murphy all made the team, along with Northern Bedford’s Drew Childers. Also on the team were McConnellsburg’s Bruce Kylor, Landon Seiders, Hayden Schetrompf, Javier Arteaga, Garrett Bunch, Brady Daniels and Caleb Strait, Southern Fulton’s Colby Whiteside, Tavita Ah Loe and Fannett-Metal’s Tanner Seibert.
In girls volleyball, the all-stars were divided into North and South based on ICC Divisions. Making the North team were Juniata Valley’;s Maddy Beasom, Emma Musser and Hayden Taylor, Bellwood-Antis’ Sakeria Haralson, Bella Keis and Sydney Lechner, Glendale’s Olivia Reese and Claysburg-Kimmel’s Megan Hartman. Also on the team were Mount Union’s Morgan Brumbaugh and West Branch’s Taylor Myers and Morgan Glace.
Making the South team were Everett’s Ashlyn Hicks and Aly Daley, Tussey Mountain’s Sophie Brumbaugh and Meghan Molosky and Northern Bedford’s Madison Johnson. Joining them were McConnellsburg’s Katelyn Truax and Southern Fulton’s Lindsey Hollenshead.
Honorable Mention status went to Everett’s Annie Nave and Southern Fulton’s Marita Murray.
