Wiltrout earns victory at Jennerstown

JENNERSTOWN — Former champion Garry Wiltrout of Somerset claimed his first victory of 2018 at the Jennerstown Speedway Complex on Saturday in the Martella’s Pharmacies RUSH late model division of racing.

Anthony Aiello continued his dominance in the Stoystown Auto Wreckers modified division, and Josh Coughenour won for the third time this season in the J&J Truck Equipment street stock division. Dale Kimberly won a pair of races in the Farmers Union co-op charger division, and James Gottschalk Jr. won the dramatic Shane Shaffer Inc. first round of the Ron’s Collision Center Enduro Series.

This Saturday, Jennerstown Speedway’s five division “Motor Mountain Mania” will be joined by the nationally televised Super Cup Stock Series tour.

Dog Hollow

Strongstown — Marion Center’s Jeff Sweeney returned to Dog Hollow victory lane after winning the Steel Block Madness feature on Saturday night.

Sweeney, an 11-time winner in the street stocks, won his first steel block feature at the track. Will Fleming picked up his first DHS win in the Laurel Highlands 305 Racesaver sprints. Jack Theys won two DM Craig Fabrication & Welding four-cylinder features, while Amber Mills pulled into victory lane for the first time this season in the AMSOIL pure stocks. Tim Bish won the street stocks, and Chase Metheney won for the second time in the 270cc micro sprints.

Clinton County

Lock Haven — Dylan Yoder bested a stout 24-car super late model field Friday during Stocker Chevrolet Night at Clinton County Motor Speedway.

The Selinsgrove driver was joined by Bob Sanso (270 micro sprints), Noah Jensen (pro stocks) and Adam Campbell (front-wheel drive four-cylinder stock car) as feature winners.

WILLIAMS GROVE: Trey Starks wiped up the field in the opener of the 28th annual Pennsylvania Speedweek Series for sprint cars at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, scoring a $5,000 victory over Greg Hodnett. In the 358 sprint main, it was Kevin Nouse of Mechanicsburg scoring for the third time this season while extending his season point lead.

PORT ROYAL: Port Royal Speedway welcomed back the 358 sprint cars on Saturday night after a six-year hiatus, and it was Jeff Halligan knifing his way through the field to pick up the payday in the Mahoney’s Plumbing and Heating Summer Series event. Port Royal’s own Devin Hart turned in an impressive night of work by sweeping both econo late model mains in convincing style. In the super late model main, Jeff Rine also worked forward from mid-pack to pick up a victory. A make-up 305 sprint main saw Zach Newlin pick up his first career Port Royal checkers, while Kyle Smith claimed victory in the regular 305 sprint main. Port Royal Speedway is set for two huge nights of racing this week with the Pennsylvania Speedweek Series coming up this Wednesday and Saturday.

SELINSGROVE: Jason Shultz of Carlisle came away with his second win of the season in the 25-lap 360 sprint car main event. Coleby Frye of Dover scored his first win of the year in the 25-lap super late models feature. Brad Mitch of McClure made a last-lap pass to win the 15-lap pro stock main. Smith Cope of Danville made it two in a row in the 12-lap roadrunner race.

HUMMINGBIRD: Winners at Hummingbird Speedway included three Clearfield drivers –Chris Farrell, Rich Howell and Eric Luzier — while Doug Surra of Kersey and Josh Fields of Brockport also found victory lane. Saturday will be mid-season championship night with double points given out in all five divisions.

LINCOLN: Danny Dietrich fought off a Lance Dewease last-lap, last-turn slider and out-raced him to the finish line to win the 19th Annual Kevin Gobrecht Memomrial on night 2 of Pennsylvania Speedweek action at Lincoln Speedway Saturday. In the Central Pa. Legends race, Travis Perry inherited the lead on the 18th lap, and in a one-lap shootout for the win, Perry remained in control as Jeremy Ott settled for a close second.
