HOLLIDAYSBURG — Hollidaysburg native Sam Lafferty will represent Team USA this spring at the IIHF Men’s World Hockey Championships.

Lafferty made the preliminary roster for the U.S. men’s national team.

The Chicago Blackhawks forward will compete in Switzerland on May 15-31. The U.S. team plays its first game on May 15 against Switzerland at 2:20 p.m.

Lafferty appeared in 29 games for Chicago this season, scoring two points. He is set to be a free agent this summer.

Starting today, Lafferty will be in Germany training for the tournament. He and the rest of Team USA are playing in a pre-tournament game on Sunday.

This is the second time that Lafferty made the roster for the U.S. Men’s National Team. The seven-year pro was a part of the team back in 2022.

Team USA is entering the event as a defending gold medalist for the first time in 92 years.

Starting at $2.99/week.
