ERIE — The Curve had a tough start and a disastrous finish in losing Wednesday night, their fourth loss in five games.

Altoona gave up runs in each of the first three innings and trailed by four. Then after trying to claw back, the Curve got tagged for six runs in the eighth as Erie pounded its way to a 12-5 win at UPMC Park.

Altoona had pulled within 6-4 in the top of the eighth before the SeaWolves exploded for six in their half of the inning.

Matt Fraizer drove in three runs for the Curve, while Jared Triolo and Brendt Citta had two hits apiece. Erie had three players record three hits, and the team finished with 14.

Starter Ramon Ortiz (1-1) took the loss for the Curve, allowing four runs on six hits in 2ª innings. Reliever Enmanuel Mejia gave up six runs — three earned — in the eighth.
