Hollidaysburg graduate commits to Penn State

Penn State coach Matt Campbell has stayed local the last few days on the recruiting trail.

On Thursday, he picked up a commitment out of the transfer portal from Saint Francis’ Hunter Albright, a Hollidaysburg graduate. Albright will have four years of eligibility, and will be a walk-on.

Additionally from the Golden Tigers, outside linebacker Josh Banks was offered an opportunity to play for the Lions. Banks was named the Mirror Player of the Year last month.

Earlier this week, Campbell picked up a commitment from State College running back D’Antae Sheffey to stay home. Sheffey also had offers from Syracuse, Cincinnati, Missouri, Pitt, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Temple, Akron, Kent State, Toledo, and Connecticut.

Penn State running back Tikey Hayes has announced he will return to the team next season.

The number of former Iowa State players following Campbell to State College is now at 20, but the Lions have picked up a handful of others, notably on the defensive line. UCLA defensive tackle Keanu Williams, Oklahoma State defensive tackle Armstrong Nnodim, Utah defensive tackle Dallas Vakalahi, Colorado edge rusher Alexander McPherson, and Ohio State running back James Peoples have all announced their intent to go to Penn State.

Outgoing transfers that have announced their next destinations were defensive back King Mack (North Carolina State), tight end Joey Schlaffer (Temple), linebacker Keon Wylie (Virginia Tech), wideout Kaden Saunders (Southern Mississippi), edge rusher Zuriah Fisher (USC), linebacker Anthony Speca (Purdue), defensive tackle Owen Wafle (Duke), offensive lineman Eagan Boyer (Florida), offensive lineman TJ Shanahan Jr. (Florida), offensive lineman Alex Birchmeier (Liberty) and defensive end Jaylen Harvey (North Carolina).
