Altoona wrestlers go undefeated at Hampton tourney
High school wrestling
ALLISON PARK — Altoona went 5-0 in the Hampton Dawg Duals at Hampton High School in high school wrestling action on Saturday.
Altoona beat Pittsburgh Central Catholic, 64-6; Baldwin, 53-19; Hampton, 63-12; Titusville, 47-18; and Latrobe, 47-15.
Deklan Barr (127 pounds), Braiden Weaver (133), Philip Sarbo (152 and 160), Gavin Ciampoli (160 and 172) and Mike Colyer (215) each went 5-0 with Colyer recording five falls.

CC boys go 4-2
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — The Central Cambria boys went 4-2 in Berkeley Springs Max Horz Team Duals on Friday and Saturday, beating Spring Mills (42-20), Preston (49-24), Fort Hill (42-30) and Frankfort (46-29), and falling to University (68-4) and Hedgesville (45-31).
Jeremy Hajzus, Burke Niebauer, Daniel Schweitzer and Hadyn Strittmatter each picked up five wins in the duals.
The CC junior high boys team finished sixth out of 20 teams in the Clarion Tournament with Blake Yoder placing first.
Two Devils win titles
LOGANTON — Bellwood-Antis girls wrestlers Juliette Cuevas and Izzy Sweet won titles at the Sugar Valley Lady Phoenix Christmas Classic on Saturday.
Cuevas pinned Wellsboro’s Jordan Rumsey in the 106 final in 3:15 and after pinning Bald Eagle Area’s Lily Spicer in the semifinals. Sweet pinned her way past Southern Huntingdon’s Liberty Lane, Wellsboro’s Katherine Whitney and Benton’s Kenzie Meikrantz in the 136 final.
Bellwood’s Elliana Patterson finished runner-up at 124 after a loss to Mechanicsburg’s Sophia Peslis in the finals. Earlier, she had falls over Sugar Valley’s Aaliyah Hopkins and Southern Huntingdon’s Hailee Bowman.
Bellwood’s Avery Neary won her consolation round three match but lost in round four at 130.
CC’s Smith wins
NEW BETHLEHEM — The Central Cambria placed 11th out of 27 teams at the Redbank Valley Tournament on Saturday.
CC’s Makenna Smith earned a first-place finish, and Lillianna Fulton finished third.
The CC junior high girls team finished second out of 17 teams with Adalyn Gokey, Alizae Kelly and Kaydence Sinclair earning titles.
