Archangelo

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Melanie Archangelo, 75, Mundys Corner, announces her passing on Saturday.

Melanie was a brilliant, fiercely independent woman who dedicated her life to advocating for fairness, equality and the empowerment of others, particularly women. She had a profound sense of justice and a passion for making a meaningful difference in the world. For many years, Melanie worked as a mediator with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor, where her sharp intellect, dedication and commitment to resolving disputes earned her the respect and admiration of both colleagues and clients. She was known for her remarkable ability to bring opposing sides together in search of mutual understanding. Prior to that, she worked as a union organizer for the ILGWU, the SEIU State Council and 1199P.

Melanie was married to Nicholas Molnar, with whom she shared a rich and fulfilling life. Their partnership was marked by mutual respect, deep affection and a shared commitment to making the world a better place.

She is survived by her sons, James Archangelo (Christina) and Scott Archangelo (Lovey); a stepdaughter, Peggy Walsh (Sean); a stepson, John Molnar (Laura); grandchildren: Ashley Gray (Logan), Alicia Archangelo (Alex), Nolan and Abigail Walsh and Samantha and Tanner Archangelo; great-grandchildren: Maddox, Londyn and Brooklyn Gray; and siblings, Larry Nairn (Sandy) and Mary Susan Nairn (Larry Schutzius).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and John “Jack” Nairn; and her brother, John P. Nairn Jr.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Melanie’s honor to the YWCA of Johnstown. Arrangements are by Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo. Condolences to the family may be left at askew-houser.com.

May Melanie’s legacy of courage, intellect and advocacy live on in all who knew her.
