I’m sending many thanks to the parishioners of the five churches in Hollidaysburg who continue to host free “Soup Saturday” through the winter months. The fellowship at these Saturdays last all week as we go from one church to the next. Many friends meet and exchange news of their families and life happenings over a bowl of delicious hot soup prepared by loving hands. Eye-opening at the top of the Wall Street Journal’s April 11-12 edition was the headline “Inflation hits two-year high.” Reporting that consumer prices jumped 3.3% in March from a year earlier, the largest increase in two years, the Journal said the April 10 inflation report from the U.S. Labor Department “was in line with the expectations of economists surveyed” by the newspaper “but the March reading was much hotter than February’s gain of 2.4%” The Journal continued: “The report is the first to capture the impact of the Iran war on inflation.” The Journal ...

In response to the Mirror article on the No Kings rally of March 28, let’s set the record straight. I was there — proudly exercising my First Amendment right. This was my third march, and each one has been deeply meaningful. The turnout was staggering. People showed up in force to stand against the rapid erosion of our democracy. Fact: Widespread voter fraud by so-called illegal aliens is an absolute myth. Don’t take my word for it, but rather that of The Heritage Foundation, a prominent conservative think tank. According to Heritage, in all elections from 1982 through 2025, there has been a whopping nine total cases of ineligible voting by aliens; hardly enough to sway the outcome of a student council election, let alone a nationwide presidential one. It has been four years since my wife and I moved from Washington County, Pa., to my apartment in Antis Township. Since we are both elderly, I had to replace many physicians my wife and I had used to receive health care while living in Washington County. That was a daunting task. For the most part.
