Wealth inequality at concerning levels

Wealth inequality in the United States has reached levels that should concern every American, regardless of political affiliation. While millions of working families struggle to afford housing, healthcare, childcare, and higher education, a small percentage of the population continues to accumulate enormous wealth at a historic pace. Theft: Cowardice without character

Minnesota fraud is the visible tip of a much larger fraud iceberg. According to the GAO, federal fraud costs taxpayers between $233 billion and $521 billion annually — sums so enormous they exceed the yearly budgets of multiple Cabinet agencies combined. Logan, Antis need to enforce codes

Being a resident of Antis Township, I am appalled at the condition of some of the residential properties I drive by almost every day on my trips into Altoona. What I observe are houses that are in total disrepair on their exteriors. The land these homes sit on are often littered with garbage, refuse, trash and rubbish. Most likely, the residents own these properties, but for some reason, they live in squalor. Local leadership deserves recognition

We often take for granted the security and relative affordability of life in Blair County. Unsurprisingly, these strengths directly correlate with strong Republican leadership. Recently, S&P Global Ratings upgraded Altoona’s credit rating to an “A+.” It should come as no surprise that our unanimous Republican council and mayor have played a significant role in encouraging private reinvestment to rehabilitate homes across our city. Township officials lauded for work

I would like to give a shout out to the Logan Township Highway Department. With another winter in the books, the crew did another fantastic job of keeping our township roads clear and safe for travel. You can count on the roads being treated early in the morning for safe travels to work and school. Also, a shout out to the police department for their interaction with the community regarding their continuous informational posts on their Facebook page. Hillman’s doctors, nurses, staff lauded

Much has been said and written about hospital care, both locally and throughout the United States. Over the past two years, I have come to realize that our UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Altoona is a true gem. I have been totally impressed with Hillman’s doctors, nurses and support staff as they have cared for me since May 2024, when I was diagnosed with smoldering multiple myeloma.
