Schmitt has qualities to be Blair judge

I am writing to support Lou Schmitt to be elected Blair County Judge. I know Lou by first meeting him while dog walking on a local trail. We then had meetings and discussions where I represented local school employees and he as our Pennsylvania government representative. Lou Schmitt is respectful, knowledgeable, intelligent, empathetic, honest and well spoken. He has shown the ability to be compassionate yet responsible and strong in the face of adversity and pressure. He exhibits the qualities needed to be one of our Blair County judges. He has my vote and hopefully yours. Thomas ...

Drivers urged to give farm vehicles space

The Blair County Farm Bureau is proud to recognize Rural Roads Safety Week from April 13-19, and we encourage all county motorists to drive with caution and care on our roadways this spring and throughout the year. As the planting season begins, farmers will be returning to the fields, and once again, large farm equipment such as tractors, farm trucks, and wagons will be traveling along Pennsylvania’s rural roads. For distracted or impatient drivers, these vehicles can pose a risk if safe driving practices are not followed. For instance, when a car traveling at 55 mph encounters a ...

Schmitt has qualities needed for judge

On May 20, we have the opportunity to elect two candidates to serve Blair County on the Court of Common Pleas. Lou Schmitt has served the residents of Blair County for more than three decades and has displayed all the qualities that meet and exceed the duties of judge. In my opinion, Lou will ensure fair and professional administration of justice. Lou will impose appropriate penalties for criminal offenses of convicted criminal defendants. Lou will promote community outcomes such as ensuring our Probation office is properly staffed. Last but not least, Lou’s actions, that have ...

Aigner running to represent everyone

I am writing in support of my friend Paula Aigner, who is running for judge in Blair County. She is committed to fairness and serving our community without political bias. While I was out getting petitions signed to help her get on the ballot, one person I approached asked who was running but refused to sign if we were Republicans or had voted for Donald Trump. I explained that I didn’t know my friend’s political affiliation, nor did it matter. What matters is her integrity, experience, and dedication to justice. She is running on both party lines to represent everyone, not ...

Schmitt will be asset to Blair County bench

I support Lou Schmitt for Blair County Common Pleas Judge. Although many people still associate the name “Lou Schmitt” with great basketball players in our area, he has become much, much more. I had the privilege of working for Lou for 14 years in a law firm where he was a partner. His many years of experience as a Lawyer, Mediator and State Representative has prepared him to meet the challenges of becoming a great Judge and an asset to the Blair County Court System. He will be fair and impartial in his decision-making on the Bench. A judgeship is a tall order to fill, but Lou ...

Schmitt will be fair, impartial judge

I am writing to endorse Lou Schmitt to be our next Common Pleas Judge in Blair County. He has been a lawyer here in Blair County for over 30 years. He has vast legal experience and knowledge. He has been a strong fighter for the rights and privileges of our citizens in Blair County, both in the courtroom and in our state Capitol. Lou will consider all sides before he makes a decision as a judge. He will be fair and impartial. He will treat everyone equally. He will make decisions without passion or prejudice. We can count on Lou to always do the right thing. He is a man of great ...
