‘Little Mermaid’ wonderful, magical

I attended “The Little Mermaid” on April 4 at AAHS performed by the Drama Club of Altoona High School. You (Mirror) had a fantastic review on this musical and I will concentrate on my total enjoyment of the production. It was a wonderful and magical night and the longer the program went on, the more I felt like I was in New York City. It was a sold out event, and what a great musical by our local high school students and staff. The orchestra was amazing and transformed us into the sea and back to land with magnificent solos all evening. Ariel had an amazing crystal clear voice ...

Global warming should be slowed

The Earth is rapidly becoming uninhabitable. The glaciers are melting at steadily increasing rate, raising ocean levels and reducing sun reflection areas at each pole — causing permafrost loss and temperature rise. As forests burn, carbon dioxide fills the atmosphere and oxygen production is reduced — all contributing to faster temperature rise. Man has mismanaged Earth by interrupting the natural order of life that nature provides. The warnings were there for us for more than a century and now it is very late — we are now unable to stop the devastation caused by contaminated ...

US needs to fight back before too late

I am a 95-year-old retired high school English and social studies teacher. I’ve had a lifelong interest in — and love for — this country. Now, I want to tell it like it is: I think Donald Trump is a traitor. He is guilty of treason. He is working against this country — against the wishes of the American people. He has betrayed Ukraine, a friend, and is collaborating with our enemy Russia. We need to fight back — before it is too late — and we have submitted to an evil dictator — who wants to be a king. Schmitt, Sisto have skills for judge

As a former District Attorney and an attorney who has been a prosecuting attorney for approx. 40 years, I believe there are two things that are the most important qualities a judge can have. Those qualities are trial experience in a courtroom and an ability to listen. As a non-partisan position, it should not matter what political party you are affiliated with, but what you would bring to the bench each and every day. In this judicial race, each and every one of the candidates is a conservative Republican, but two of the candidates stand out with regard to their ability to listen to ...
