US better without gov’t dependency

The modern Democratic Party often speaks passionately about compassion, fairness and helping working people. Yet many of the policies they promote seem to produce the opposite results for communities like ours here in central Pennsylvania.

Policies such as rent control, heavy regulation and ever-increasing taxes are often sold as solutions to help struggling families. In practice, they tend to reduce housing availability, drive up costs for small businesses, and make it harder for working people to get ahead. Government programs intended to help too often create dependency rather than opportunity.

Energy policy provides another example. Restrictions on domestic energy production raise fuel and utility costs that hit working families the hardest. When energy prices rise, everything from groceries to home heating becomes more expensive. Meanwhile, the jobs that once sustained many communities disappear.

There is also a growing disconnect between rhetoric and reality. Politicians who claim to champion the working class often advance policies that expand bureaucracy, concentrate power in government and limit economic freedom for ordinary Americans.

True compassion should focus on policies that strengthen families, support small businesses, encourage work and innovation, and protect the freedoms that allow communities to thrive.

Our country works best when opportunity, not government dependency, is the path forward.
