Catharine “Emmie” Detwiler, 93, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday. She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late D. Elwood and Mary (Kifer) Brantner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion “Amos”; children, Judy and Ronald; siblings: Jane, Fay, Edna, Dorothy, Rose, Thomas, Donald, Daniel, James and John. Surviving are a daughter, Debra; her grandchildren; and siblings: Diana, Carol, Bonnie, Arlene, Nancy, Rebecca, Clyde and Robert. Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. until the service at noon Monday, May 12, 2025, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

Frances L. “Fay” Gabany, 94, of Ebensburg, died Tuesday. She was born in Altoona to the late Ronald and Maragret (Sheehan) Wyland. She was also predeceased by her husband, John; and siblings: David, Rosie and Gerald. Surviving are children: Bonita Moore, David, Gloria Dziabo, Douglas, Mary and Anita Malloy; many grandchildren; siblings: Lois, Jean, Paul, Ruth and Edward; and sister-in-law, Kathy Drass. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2025, at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg. A funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. at Holy Name Church, Ebensburg.

Daniel Lee Garman

Daniel Lee Garman, 64, of Glasgow, died Tuesday. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Dean Sr. and Nina B. (Bowman) Garman. Danny is survived by a daughter, Jessica Garman; grandchildren, Adelynn Rose and Hadley Grace Krepps; siblings: Patti Lesser, Dean Jr., Betsy Walstrom and Jaymee Miller; and several nieces and nephews. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or service. His wish is to have his cremains sprinkled at Chincoteague Island, Va. Arrangements are by McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow.
