Kenneth ‘Mike’ Lashley

Kenneth “Mike” Lashley, 67, of Ebensburg, died Tuesday after battling salmonella poisoning. He was born in Bedford, son of the late Kenneth and Constance (Hershberger) Lashley. Surviving are his wife, Maxine; daughter, Marissa; grandsons: Christopher, Matthew and Isaac; and siblings, Richard Lashley and Cheryl Novotny. Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, car racing and spending time with his grandsons. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Ebensburg United Church of Christ (Congregational). Arrangements by Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg.

Thomas Earl McKinley

Thomas Earl McKinley, 78, of Avon, Ohio, formerly of Altoona, passed away June 22, 2025. He was born and raised in Altoona and graduated from Altoona High School, Class of 1964. Surviving are his wife, Rita; daughters, Tracy (Brian) Swayne and Kristin (Rick) Barrett; daughter-in-law, Kellie McKinley; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marie McKinley; and son, Michael McKinley. Thomas retired as Vice President of Systems Programming at Key Bank. He enjoyed vacationing at the beach. Private services were held in Ohio.

Joseph J. Surma

Joseph J. Surma, 69, of Gallitzin, passed away June 20, 2025. He was born in Warren, Ohio, son of the late Joseph and Marion “Sis” (Dashner) Surma. Two brothers, Barry and Michael, preceded him in death. Surviving are a brother, Thomas; sister-in-law, Rue Ann; an aunt, Alice; uncle, Bob; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe enjoyed playing Little League ball, watching football and baseball and spending time with friends at the Legion. Daniel R. Campbell

Daniel R. Campbell, 68, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Robert and Ethel (Baker) Campbell. Surviving is a sister, Tammie Jo Lingenfelter; a brother, Robert; a nephew, Robert Lingenfelter; and special friend, Rick Shaffer. Dan served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 24 years. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Don Mast officiating. Interment will be at Royer Cemetery.
