Donald T. Merrill, 79, Patton, died Wednesday. He was born in Colver, son of the late Scott and Mae (Thomas) Merrill. Surviving are his loving wife, Janet, of 59 years; a daughter, Dawn Merrill; a son, Darin S. Merrill; grandchildren: Christopher Gerlesky, Garrett Merrill and Jonathan Merrill; a sister, Myrna Martin; and several nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by a son, Wade Merrill. The Rev. Dean G. Rose, 78, Altoona, died Wednesday at home. He was born in Hartford, Conn., son of the late George and Elinor (Buckland) Rose. He married Barbara (Horvath) Von Noaker in 2001. She preceded him in death in 2020. He is survived by a daughter, Angel Weyandt; grandchildren, Jade and Rivington; and many great friends and neighbors. Mr. Rose was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School, a U.S. Army veteran and a retired lineman. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public service.
