What is so hard about a balanced budget? The math is supposed to be simple. Know how much money is coming in. Don’t spend more than that. But let’s be honest. Patricia Louise ‘Pat’ Oakes Allen

Patricia Louise “Pat” Oakes Allen, 93, died Wednesday. She was born on her grandparents’ farm in Jack’s Corner, Pa. Pat was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. She had seven children: Laurel and Lisa Whitaker, Tricia Allen, Jennifer Ballin (deceased), Shawn Whitaker (deceased) and Shane and Tracey Allen; and several grandchildren. We will miss our Mom, our Granpatty: a smart, courageous, determined and funny woman who could be a “bit curmudgeonly” but was the rock on which we could stand. William G. Ambrose, 84, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Lynn E. and Mary J. Houck Ambrose. Bill served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a 50-plus-year Past Master of Logan Lodge 490, Altoona. Bill was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Greensburg. His greatest joy in life was his family.
