Richard L. Baird Jr.
May 19, 1947 – April 1, 2026
Richard L. Baird Jr., 78, of Duncansville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at Presbyterian Village, Hollidaysburg. Born in Altoona, he was the son of the late Richard L. Sr. and Betty L. (Ormsby) Baird.
He married Judith L. Spangle on Oct. 8, 1966, with whom he shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.
A 1965 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, Richard dedicated his professional life to design, working as a draftsman at Hayes Large Architects.
Richard was an active community member, holding memberships with The Bavarian Aid Society, Logan Lodge No. 490, F & AM and the NRA. He was also very committed to the Penn Woods Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the local Order of the Arrow.
Richard found great enjoyment in camping at Raystown Lake, pursuing DIY projects and model railroading, however, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judith; his son, Brent Baird, and daughter-in-law, Gina. He is also survived by three brothers: Lee Baird, Al Baird (Patty) and Bob Baird (Cathy); and a sister, Debbie Oppel (Dave); a former sister-in-law, Beth Zimmerman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
