Marian Elizabeth (Felten) Sharer

She married her loving husband, Donald Frederic Sharer, on Feb. 6, 1954, in Harrisburg. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2016.

Surviving are two children, Niai Webb and her husband, Richard “Rick,” of The Villages, Fla., and Duncansville and James “Skip” Sharer and his wife, Barbara, of Hayesville, N.C.; three grandchildren: Josh Webb (Caitlin), Christopher Sharer and Aleksandra Edgar (Kyle); and two great-grandchildren, Georgia and Madeline Webb.

Mrs. Sharer was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church, Altoona.

Marian graduated from Williamsburg High School and from the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. She did her post-graduate work at Johns Hopkins University Hospital, School of Nursing in Baltimore, Md., and attended Penn State University.

She was employed at the Altoona Hospital as head nurse of the nursery and later by Dr. H.R. DiGiacobbe and Bon Secours Hospital, Altoona, as head of the poison control center, retiring in 1988.

Marian was a member of Altoona Chapter #290/Hollidaysburg Chapter #471, Order of the Eastern Star; Jobel Court #11, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America; and Past Queen Dorcas Temple #129, Daughters of the Nile. She was First Lady of Jaffa Shrine Temple in 2006.

Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Lenore Hosier officiating. A funeral service will also be held by the Daughters of the Nile and the Central PA Nurses Honor Guard. Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Marian please be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o Jaffa Shriners, 2200 Broad Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
