Catherine A. Rose

Catherine A. Rose, 99, formerly of Cresson, passed away after a short illness on March 16, 2026, in Florida. She was born in Revloc, daughter of the late Salvo and Assunta (Casseri) Bono.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, whom she married Feb. 7, 1948, in Revloc; and her brothers, Joseph and Robert.
Catherine is survived by her brother, Sonny; and sisters, Evelyn and Gloria; her three sons; and four grandchildren.
She was a Cub Scout Den Mother when her boys were in the scouts and participated in various activities related to Scout work.
Catherine was a stay-at-home mom until her sons were grown, and then she worked at the Cresson State Institution until her retirement.
She was an avid bowler and was the league champion on several occasions.
Catherine was active in the community and volunteered at St. Vincent’s Thrift Shop for many years. She enjoyed working on puzzles of all kinds and often competed with her grandchildren to finish first.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Parish and Senior Citizen’s Center of Cresson.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Entombment and graveside rites at St. Francis Xavier Mausoleum will follow.
