Angela M. ‘Angie’ (Mento) Auerbeck

Angela M. “Angie” (Mento) Auerbeck, 95, of Altoona, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening at her residence with her family by her side. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Frank and Vincenza (Macchiarolo) Mento.
Angie married Frank H. Auerbeck on June 12, 1954. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 2015.
Surviving are her loving children: Deb Kawtoski of Altoona, Sue Baranik (Bob) of Altoona, Sandi Smith (Mike) of Hollidaysburg, Patty Pufka (Joe) of Altoona, Ken Auerbeck (Grace) of Middletown and Dave Auerbeck (Tracy) of Hollidaysburg; 15 grandchildren: Mandy, Angela, Ryan, Jake, Adam, Jared, Jordan, Tyler, Corey, Gabrielle, Casey, Gina, David, Alex and Alycia;
13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Idy Caporuscio and Julie Ritchey, both of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Angie was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Mento; and her son-in-law, Ed Kawtoski.
She was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School and retired from Butterick Co. Inc. as a data processor with over 30 years of service.
Angie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was a member of the Golden Nuggets, the Horseshoe Seniors, Unter Uns, and was past president of the Catholic Daughters of America.
Angie enjoyed traveling, dancing, cooking, working puzzles and reading; but she ultimately loved spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1405 Fifth Ave., Altoona, with Father Mariusz Gorazd, celebrant.
Committal will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
