Matthew Glenn Yarnell

He was born in Houston, Texas, son of Gary and Barbara (Hallinan) Yarnell.

Surviving are his father, Gary Yarnell; his mother, Barbara (Bob) Mertiff; two brothers, Ryan Yarnell (Angela) and Travis Yarnell (Summer); a daughter, Carrie Yarnell; a son, Rocco Yarnell; a grandson, Oliver; several nieces and nephews; a large extended family, and his pet cat, Leo.

He was a 1996 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School and a graduate of Penn State with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He volunteered at East Broad Top Railroad in any capacity they needed, was an avid sportsman and he loved hunting, fishing and playing his guitar. He was very adventurous.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 15, 2025, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone and then again at St. George Orthodox Church, 519 58th St., Altoona, on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, for the funeral service at 10 a.m., led by the Very Rev. Alexander Cadman for all services. Interment will be at Saint Mary’s Nativity of the Theotokos Cemetery, Madera.
