Eleanor C. ‘Ellie’ Dean Simm

She was twice married, first on April 17, 1947, to Richard Paul Dean, who preceded her in death April 10, 1978; then in May 1980 to Frederick Harry Simm, who preceded her in death April 28, 2013.

Surviving are a son, Richard A. “Rick” Dean (Michele) of Altoona; a stepdaughter, Sharon Seymore; two grandchildren, Richard Paul Dean and Rebekah Joy Dean; and six stepgrandchildren.

Eleanor was preceded in death by a brother, George Jacobs; a stepdaughter, Sandy; and a stepson, Ed.

Mrs. Simm was a member of First Baptist Church, Altoona.

She was a 1945 graduate of Altoona High School.

Eleanor retired after numerous years of employment from Reliance Bank as a teller in 1991. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was also continually active in her church, where she sang in the choir, taught the children’s Sunday school class and served as a deaconess.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m., with Pastor Tyler Pepper officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Eleanor please be made to First Baptist Church, 1209 17th St., Altoona, PA 16601; or to Precious Life, 1716 12th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
