Daryl Lee Johnson

On Aug. 18, 1973, he was united in marriage to the former Carol (Grabill) Johnson.

Along with his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his daughter, Cara Ann (Johnson) Garner; and son-in-law, Travis; four siblings; and his dearly loved granddogs.

Daryl was a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School, Class of 1969. While in high school, he lettered in track.

Daryl touched many lives with his kind heart and sense of humor.

Daryl had a strong work ethic that he took pride in. He worked as a machine operator for Penn Jacobson Fastener Co. until they closed. He then went to work as a starch maker for American Eagle Papermill until his retirement in 2013. Not being able to have idle hands, he took on part-time work as a delivery driver for On Time Delivery as well as Pacifico Bakery.

When Daryl wasn’t working, he enjoyed bowling in various leagues such as the Saturday Night Cosmos and Friday Afternoon Men’s Senior League. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, hunting, working in his yard, golfing, camping, traveling with his friends and family and watching NASCAR races. He was also an avid Steelers fan.

He was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society and attended Altoona Bible Church.

No public services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Daryl’s life will be held at a later date.

If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Daryl to Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16602; or because of Daryl’s love for animals, Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
