Vernadine M. ‘Boots’ Butler

Vernadine M. “Boots” Butler, 84, of East Freedom, passed away Wednesday at home. She was born in Polecat, daughter of the late Albert M. and Edith (Musselman) Strayer.
She married John E. Butler on Nov. 11, 1960. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2023.
Surviving is a daughter, Sandra Devers and husband, Ron; grandson, Aaron Devers and wife, Andreia; great-granddaughter, Lisa Marie Devers; sister, Shirley Musselman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Butler; brothers, Oliver and Thomas Strayer; and a sister, Virginia Musselman.
Vernadine was a 1959 graduate of Greenfield-
Kimmel High School. She retired from Loungeray in Hollidaysburg in 1981.
Boots was a member of Smith Corner Church and served in the Ladies Aide.
She enjoyed crafting, going on day trips, hosting summertime picnics and spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Holsinger Cemetery.
