Jack S. Scott, 85, Hollidaysburg, passed away Monday at his residence. He was born in Williams­port, son of the late Warren M. and Viola E. (Criswell) Scott Jr.

Jack married Diane Louise Scheungrab on June 22, 1963. She preceded him in death on May 8, 2024.

He is survived by his brother, Bill Scott of Hollidaysburg; his sister, Donna Hallman of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by three brothers: Bob, James and Warren Scott.

Jack was a high school graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, having served for five and a half years. He traveled to Okinawa for 26 months and returned home to Camp Lejeune for one and a half years and Paris Island for two years. Jack then was a rifle instructor for one and a half years and received a Good Conduct Medal.

He retired from the Altoona Police Department after 17 years of service, and then from the PA Department of Corrections after 11 years.

Jack was an avid Altoona Area High School sports fan and enjoyed being part of the ASA Umpire Association for 25 years.

He enjoyed working in his yard and tinkering with his 1957 classic Chevy when he was well enough.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2716 Broad Ave., Altoona, with Father James Dugan, celebrant.

Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery, with military honors.
