Devon Nicole Kester
Aug. 16, 1992 – April 12, 2024
Our hearts are broken as we grieve the loss of our beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Devon Nicole Kester, who passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024.
Devon was born in Altoona. She was a 2010 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014. She was recently living in Los Angeles, Calif., where she was working as a passionate and dedicated financial advisor. She genuinely loved her job, as it afforded her the opportunity to not only help others prepare for their future, but also help them protect the future of their loved ones. She lit up every time she spoke of the opportunity to improve someone’s life in her profession.
Surviving are her loving and adoring parents, Glenda Rutherford and Darren and Cindy Kester; a sister, Kaitlynn Kester; a brother, David Kester; her grandmother, Cornelia Rutherford; aunts and uncle, Julie Coltrin and Cara and Greg Burket; her cousins, who considered her a sister: Nate Apple, Zac Apple, Jenna Taylor, Jordyn Conrad, Jesse Burket and Krystal Burket; and countless dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charlie and Donna Rutherford, Gloria Burget and David Kester II; and her aunt, Dianne Apple.
She had a zest for life and loved the West Coast, where she embraced her time spent living in San Diego, Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Although a native of Pennsylvania, Devon was a true West Coast fashionista. She loved indulging in the culture and defining her sense of fashion in the “City of Angels.” Devon was always active, loving and appreciating both the mountains and the beaches. She loved to spend her free time hiking, snowboarding and soaking up the sun. She took any and every opportunity to travel, including a road trip across the country, and her most recent adventure, a bucket list opportunity to travel to Hawaii.
Devon danced through life, often quite literally, with enthusiasm and a dynamic energy. Her personality was magnetic and her quick wit unmatched. She loved and was loved fiercely in return.
Devon would not want us to gather in sorrow in her passing but remember her with joy and laughter. A Celebration of Life in Devon’s honor will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Park Hills Golf Club. Please come celebrate Devon and share stories with us of our charismatic girl.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Devon’s name to ashland-home.org.
