Carol L. Stringer

Carol L. Stringer, 77, Tyrone, died Saturday after a battle with COVID-19 at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Huntingdon, daughter of Ralph and Ruth (Kennedy) Jones of Alexandria.
She was married to Donald E. Stringer on Nov. 21, 1960, in Winchester, Va. He died Aug. 25, 1989.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Ray E. Stringer II, in August 2005; a son, William D. Stringer, in December 2017; and a grandson, Justin E. Stringer, in August 2020.
She is survived by a son, Donald E. “J.R.” Stringer Jr. and his wife, Tonya, of Tyrone; a son, Timothy A. Stringer and his wife, Deb, of Julian; a son, Richard C. Stringer and his wife, Ashley, of Duncansville; grandchildren: Elizabeth Stringer, Benjamin Stringer, Sean Stringer, Zackary Stringer, Ryan Stringer and Heather Stringer, all of Tyrone, and Madison Stringer and Xander Stringer of Duncansvillle; granddaughter-in-law, Danielle; and great-grandchildren: Sage, Adyson, Jaxon and Waylon, all of Altoona.
Carol was a 1961 graduate of Juniata Valley High School and worked at Big Yank Co. and then Epworth Manor, retiring in 2009.
She always enjoyed reading, cooking, watching classic movies and spending time with her friends and family.
Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
