HOLLIDAYSBURG — Although graffiti from a recent incident at Canal Basin Park has been removed, officials are still on the hunt for more information about who carried out the vandalism. According to Hollidaysburg police Chief Richard Oldham, multiple racial and homophobic slurs were spray painted onto playground slides and areas around the park. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime over the weekend, or possibly even into early Monday morning, Oldham said. An East Freedom man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Monday night. According to the Blair County Coroner’s Office, Steven Emerick, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in the area of 14483 Dunnings Highway, East Freedom. Emerick was the only occupant of the vehicle, the coroner’s office stated, noting the office was called to the scene about 6:57 p.m. The investigation is ongoing. An autopsy was performed Wednesday.
