The Van Zandt VA Medical Center will hold a special ceremony to honor Overdose Awareness Day at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31. The event will take place outside the mental health building (Building 32) at the main medical center, 2907 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona. The ceremony aims to honor those who have lost their lives to overdose and to raise awareness about overdose prevention and the use of naloxone. The state Public Utility Commission gets new data center tasks with the governor’s executive order issued last week. The PUC is preparing action on several fronts to address the impact of data centers on energy costs and energy demand. The agency received an assignment from Gov. Josh Shapiro to ensure data centers don’t shift energy costs to consumers or compromise the reliability of their electric service.
