A memo filed by Rep Jill Cooper, R-Allegheny, with bipartisan cosponsors gives an additional job to the state Education Secretary when deciding whether to approve a campus closing application or not. The Blair County Mosquito-borne Disease Control Program will conduct a truck-mounted ultra-low-volume mosquito control operation today, Thursday, Sept. 10, in portions of Antis Township, Blair Township and Hollidaysburg Borough. The operation will begin around dusk and is intended to reduce populations of nuisance mosquitoes and mosquitoes capable of transmitting West Nile virus.
