Ronald L. Filer

Ronald L. Filer, 93, of Hollidaysburg, died Thursday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Gordon and Dorothy (Ricketts) Filer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores “Dee”; his sister, Linda; and two great-grandchildren. Surviving are children; Bill, Betsy Ellis, Brian and Belinda; stepchildren: Bill Miller, Bob Miller, Vickie Woomer, Terrie Gigliotti and Pattie Gorski; and several grandchildren. Ronald was an active member of the Horseshoe Chorus. He loved spending time with his dog Joey. Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg.

Ione Ruth Hammaker, 94, formerly of Roaring Spring, died Saturday. She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late David and Grace (Peightal) Davis. Ione was preceded in death by her husband, Cy; sisters, Nancy Hamil and Arlene Edmundson; son, David; and son-in-law, Jay Levrio. Surviving are children: Paul Cyrus, Carol Ann Radomski and Mary Beth Levrio; and seven grandchildren: Jared, Corey and Lucas Hammaker, Charlotte and Julia Radomski and Miles and Emma Levrio. Linda Glass Payne, 66, formerly of Houtzdale, died Nov. 2, 2025. She was born in Lockport, N.Y., daughter of the late Louis “Bud” and Mildred Coleman. L. Scott Sharpless, 58, of Sandy Ridge, died Friday. He was born in Philipsburg, the son of Sheldon Sharpless and the late Rhelda (Tormey) Hummel. Surviving are his wife, Jennifer; daughters, Hannah Sharpless and Lara Quick; siblings, Sharon Glasgow and Timothy Sharpless; nieces, Emily Roney and Kristie Sharpless; a nephew, Ryan Glasgow; and mother-in-law, Betsy Whitehead.
