Altoona Water Authority to replace 16th Avenue waterline

The Altoona Water Authority has awarded a contract to Guyer Bros. for the replacement of 500 feet of 12-inch waterline along 16th Avenue between 14th and 15th streets, after a waterline break in that area seriously damaged the avenue. The award was in keeping with a prior authorization by the board to replace the line and then to rebuild the avenue on that block, with costs up to a total of $250,000, based on preliminary estimates. Blair County commissioners to review EMA post

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Blair County commissioners said Thursday that they will review the management setup put in place six months ago when Director of Public Safety Mark Taylor retired as supervisor of the county’s Emergency Management Agency and 911 Center. Based on Taylor’s recommendation, commissioners allowed the EMA portion of Taylor’s job to transfer to Cris Frederickson and the portion of Taylor’s job involving 911 Center supervision to fall to Emily States.
