Mosquito control efforts planned

The Blair County Mosquito-borne Disease Control Program will be conducting a truck-mounted ultra-low volume mosquito control operation in the Parkview Estates area of Antis Township and the Legion Park area of Hollidaysburg Borough to reduce populations of nuisance mosquitoes and mosquitoes capable of transmitting West Nile Virus. The work will begin about dusk today, Wednesday, Aug. 19. Signs will be posted on the day of the control event to inform residents. Inmate suicide lawsuit to move forward

A magistrate judge reviewing a federal lawsuit filed by the mother of an inmate who committed suicide while in the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale has recommended the dismissal of a “deliberate indifference” charge against prison officials, but has indicated a charge of “denial of access to medical care” should move forward.
