Resurfacing project to start

There is a potential for short delays on William Penn Road in Bedford and East St. Clair townships, Bedford County, as work begins on a road resurfacing project.

From Monday, June 22, to Friday, July 3, drivers can expect short delays of three to five minutes and lane restrictions under daylight flagging operations as contractors conduct drainage improvements along William Penn Road from Route 56 (Quaker Valley Road) to Route 869 (Brumbaugh Road).

New Enterprise Stone & Lime, New Enterprise, is the lead contractor for the 3.9-mile, $1 million road resurfacing project, which is expected to be completed in August.

Bridge rehab may cause delays

A bridge rehabilitation project will cause a few delays this week as the contractor prepares to close the bridge to complete the work.

PennDOT said drivers should be prepared for short delays on Reynoldsdale Road in East St. Clair and Bedford townships as signs and a traffic signal are installed at the bridge. That work will begin Monday, June 15.

Then, beginning Monday, June 22, single-lane restrictions will be in effect with the activation of the traffic signal at the bridge over Oppenheimer Run.

Also, from Monday, June 22, to Oct. 31, Ott Road will be closed at the bridge and traffic will be guided under a 0.4-mile detour using William Penn Road back to Ott Road.

George S. Hann & Sons Inc., Littleton, is the lead contractor for the $817,000 bridge rehabilitation project, scheduled for completion in September 2027.
