Tyrone Goodwill store to close May 30

The Tyrone Goodwill store on Pennsylvania Avenue will close effective May 30.

President/CEO Bradley Burger said Goodwill isn’t immune to the shifting retail landscape and the rising costs of doing business.

“The increased cost of fuel and logistics required for our trucking support has made it difficult to sustain operations at this specific site,” he said of the Tyrone store. “To ensure the long-term health of our mission, we must consolidate our resources.”

All four staff members at the Tyrone location have been offered continued employment at nearby stores in Huntingdon and Altoona.

“We are grateful for their hard work and are committed to supporting them through this transition,” Burger said.

Starting immediately, the store is clearing its residual merchandise.

“To help us find homes for these items before the doors close, we will offer progressive discounts on all inventory. Stop in throughout the month of May to find final treasures at significantly reduced prices,” Burger said.

Burger said the residents of Tyrone helped Goodwill’s mission and he’s grateful for the support shown to the store and its employees.

“Your donations, your shopping trips and your smiles have fueled our mission to provide job training and community services,” he said. “While our physical footprint in town is changing, our commitment to the region remains as strong as ever.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
