Roaring Spring man arrested for alleged sexual assault of child
A Roaring Spring man is behind bars with bail denied after allegedly sexually assaulting a toddler.
Joshua Daniel Ross, 29, was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Andrew L. Blattenberger on felony charges of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and endangering the welfare of children.
Bail was denied because “no amount of bail or combination of conditions can reasonably protect the safety of the public,” the case docket states.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Roaring Spring Borough police were dispatched to Conemaugh Nason Hospital on Thursday to investigate a sexual assault on a child that occurred at the Roaring Spring Commonse earlier that morning.
Police spoke with a person who witnessed Ross assaulting the child. In talking with police, Ross claimed he was giving the child “raspberries,” the report states.
As he talked with police, Ross allegedly admitted to smoking crack and assaulting the child because he didn’t know what he was doing.
Children and youth caseworkers also talked with Ross, who confessed to them as well, the report states.
Ross is being held in the Blair County Prison. His preliminary hearing is set for June 11 before Blattenberger.
