Ebensburg’s Art in Bloom Spring Art Show returns

Ebensburg’s Art in Bloom Spring Art Show will return to the Cambria County Courthouse, Ebensburg, this weekend.

The show, which will feature nearly 150 pieces of artwork from local and area artists, will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 25, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 26.

In addition to the art, the Cambria County Liberty Bell, designed by local artist Carol Cecere, and the Liberty Torch, designed by local artist Andrew Jacobs, will be on display. Both pieces honor and celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.

Returning this year are three live artist demonstrations through the weekend. Two will take place on Saturday and will feature Jennifer Fultz, from noon to 2 p.m., on incorporating values in all creative work; followed by Jenny Farabaugh, from 2 to 4 p.m. with needle felting. On Sunday, Jessica Campbell will feature her work with encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, from 2 to 4 p.m.

“The Art in Bloom committee is excited to offer an interactive and experiential show again this year,” said Danea Koss, community development director. “This is the one weekend of the year that we get to transform the Courthouse into our very own art gallery, and we encourage everyone to come check it out and support your local artists.”

An artwork raffle will be held through the weekend with works being donated from the personal collections of area artists including Brandon Hirt, Jeffrey Koss, Karin Johnson, Diana Sharbaugh, Dianne O’Shea, Bonnie and Dana Driscoll, David Oatman, Patti Ponchione, Kelly Smith, Sandra Wirfel and Daryl Lanzendorfer.

There will also be 60 pieces of student artwork submitted by nine area schools on display in the downtown storefront windows of ACRP, First National Bank, High Street Body Shop, Wessel & Co., Wolf’s Performing Arts, Rik-N-Nik’s, state Rep. Frank Burns’ office and Up-N-Running.

The scaffolding surrounding the Courthouse will not affect the art show.

Art in Bloom is free and open to the public. For more information, call 814-472-8414 or visit ebensburgpa.com.
