A 17-year-old was killed in a motor vehicle accident along Beaver Valley Road in Cambria County Saturday morning.

Carter R. Gallaher, a senior at Glendale High School, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in Clearfield Township, according to the report from state police.

The accident reportedly occurred about 5 a.m. Saturday. The 2018 Nissan Rogue carrying Gallaher, a 19-year-old, 18-year-old and 15-year-old failed to negotiate a left turn and drove off the road, striking a tree, according to the police report.

Two other passengers were taken to the hospital for injuries — one by helicopter and one by ambulance. Upon speaking with the 19-year-old operator of the vehicle, Landon Gallaher, police discovered he was driving under the influence of alcohol, which he allegedly admitted.

The crash is currently under investigation by state police.
