Altoona man arrested in alleged stabbing

A city man was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 30, after a scuffle in mid-December left another man with a stab wound that required 11 staples to close.

After an investigation into the stabbing, Travis Lenair Taylor, 47, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, misdemeanor counts of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person and a summary count of harassment.

He was arraigned Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. DeAntonio and remanded to the Blair County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 7 before DeAntonio.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim, Taylor and a female witness were hanging out at a local bar shortly before midnight on Dec. 13.

The three left the bar together when Taylor and the victim began arguing about Taylor hitting on the woman.

When the victim got to Taylor’s home on the 1500 block of Broadway Avenue, the victim told Taylor to get out of the car, to which Taylor allegedly said “make me.”

The victim got out of the car and the two got into a scuffle, until the victim knocked Taylor down with a leg sweep, the report states.

Taylor got back up and the two continued to wrestle until Taylor got knocked down again. At that point, he got up and walked into his residence.

The victim drove back to the woman’s home where someone noticed his shirt was wet with blood. He was then taken to UPMC Altoona for treatment, the report states.

The victim told police he didn’t realize he had been stabbed in the chest until someone pointed it out.
