Canoe Creek closed to swimming

Effective immediately, the swimming beach at Canoe Creek State Park is closed due to the recent results from water quality bacterial test samples. According to a post on the park’s Facebook page, the area will remain closed to swimming until further notice. Water testing is continuing, and the area will reopen as soon as the water quality returns to acceptable levels.

Tyrone to add street light

Tyrone Borough Council members voted to add a street light at 13th Street and North Avenue. During their meeting Monday, council members said the light is needed to enhance the safety of late-night pedestrian traffic. Borough Manager Ardean Latchford will contact Penelec to have the light installed as soon as possible. The total cost is $4,220.95.

Bridge weight limit reduced

PennDOT is implementing a 25-ton weight limit on the 10th Street bridge (Route 1012) over Bald Eagle Creek in Tyrone Borough, Blair County.

This bridge carries about 2,500 vehicles per day.

This restriction is being implemented in the interest of safety and will be effective once the signs are posted.

Bedford bridge sees reduced limit

A 30-ton weight limit is being posted on Mike and Water Road bridge (Route 2025) over Clear Creek in West Providence Township, Bedford County. This bridge carries about 90 vehicles per day.
